The Suffering and Mercies of God- my learning journey
One God, 3 Persons: why Jesus (God the Son) suffered, got mercies for God the Father, and passes mercies on to you so you can live forever with God

God n the God-Man
There is only ONE God. Unfortunately we focus so much on this that we miss the God AND God-Man realities. God did not enlighten me to one of the biggest parts of this relationship until fairly recently. God waited 50 years before He taught me this.
God the Father is God. He is everything that God is, all the time. There is nothing that is God that the Father is not.
God the Son, Jesus, is God. He is everything that God is, all the time. There is nothing that is God that the Son is not.
God the Son- Jesus- came to earth as a true pure sinless human being. While here on earth he gave up the right to use his abilities as God. He did not give up his godhood, just the use of the abilities.
Jesus took all of my sins, all of your sins, all of everyone's sins, into Himself while He hung on the cross. He was guilty of every one of those sins. Every one. This is the idea of 2 Corinthians 5:21. His guilt was so deep God the Father turned His back on God the Son. Only time that ever happened. The rejection was so deep God turned out all the light so He could not see Jesus. Jesus was incredibly incomprehensively guilty. Psalm 40:12. And Jesus was powerless to do anything about it. He couldn't just call on His godhood to solve the problem. There was exactly one avenue to resolve the problem. It is an avenue that involves not godhood but manhood. It is an avenue you and I fail at. Jesus, in all His agony of being totally rejected by the Father (the intense pain of hanging on the cross was nothing compared to this), had to do something in His humanity. He had to wait for the mercies of the Father. Psalm 40:4, 11-12, 17. If the Father had decided to not provide His mercies to the Son, the Son would have been punished for your sins and mine, forever. At this point the Father loathed Jesus. He couldn't stand the sight of Jesus. He wanted nothing to do with Jesus. Psalm 5:5.
This is when Jesus, as a Man, cried out, "My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me?" Psalm 22:1. Jesus was truly powerless. Psalm 22:19. Just like any other human Jesus could do nothing but wait for God to show His mercies to Jesus. Psalm 22:11, 13. Jesus despaired. In His humanity He doubted. Psalm 22:2.
And then, "You answered/heard/rescued me." Psalm 22:21. God the Father responded. The Father did not respond to Jesus showing up in all His God abilities and paying for our sins. The Father responded to Jesus following the principle of waiting for the Father to provide mercies. Psalm 40:4, 11.
The Father provided mercies for every sin in Jesus. The Father provided the mercy of forgiveness for each and every sin. And the Father provided the mercy of changing the person to be holy for each and every sin. Jesus received all these mercies. I missed this for 50 years.
Now, for those who choose to respond to God's invitation to be in a relationship with God, Jesus passes on those mercies to those people. God's followers get forgiveness, and God's followers get changed into ever greater holiness. Before the universe was created it was planned for Jesus to go through this. Jesus is the lamb slain before the foundation of the world Revelation 13:8.
Before the universe was created it was planned for me to receive the mercies of God the Father. It was planned for you to receive the mercies of God the Father. Ephesians 1:4; 2 Timothy 1:9.
Jesus depended on the Father's mercies to deal with sin in Him. I depend on Jesus to pass on those mercies to me. Jesus did make a payment. He paid me for me. In return I got Him. So do you.
Mercies. God created the whole universe, and you and me in it, so He could DO mercies, and so others could see Him as the merciful God He is. That is why you and I exist. To receive mercies.
Learning this was the start of writing Jesus N Mercies. I had to rewrite part of God WANTS You and part of The Carpet to match what I had finally learned.
To God be the glory.
